We are organising a conference on the industrial applications of some particular aspects of discrete mathematics (coding theory, cryptography, optimisation, difference sets, ect..,) in order to promote an exchange of ideas among researchers from different areas (e.g., managers from private or public companies and academicians), with different background and different points of view. The conference will consist of five invited lectures of one hour each given by

R. Calderbank (AT&T Labs — Research),

J. Jedwab (Hewlett-Packard Labs, Bristol),

B. Korte (Forchsungsinstitut fuer Diskrete Mathematik, Bonn),

J.H. van Lint (T.U. Eindhoven),

A. Mazzeo (University of Naples),

and about 10 selected short talks.

You are cordially invited to participate in Discrete Mathematics and Its Industrial Applications during the second week of June, 2001 on the Island of Capri and, if you wish, to present a half-hour talk on some aspect of your work related to the main topics of the Conference. If there should be too many people wishing to give a short talk, we will be selecting those speakers whose topics are closest to the subject of the Conference. Because of limited accommodation we greatly appreciate if you communicate your intention to participate by

28 February 2001.

To do so please complete the attached pre-registration form, and send it by email to polverin@matna2.dma.unina.it. There is a registration fee of 150.000 Italian Lire which is to be paid directly at your arrival in Capri. No fee will be charged for accompanying persons

Not many single rooms are available, so people requesting a single room might possibly be accommodated in a double room. Therefore it would be appreciated if you would indicate the name of a person with whom you would not mind sharing a room. The price (per person/day) of the rooms are as follows:

The conference talks will begin on Friday morning, June 8, and will end with the official dinnerby on Saturday, June 9. Participants should plan to arrive in Capri by Thursday, June 7. The program will take place in the Conference Centre of the Hotel.
