Locations

The Società Nazionale di Scienze, Lettere e Arti in Napoli is located in the old part of the city, in an historical building, not far from the main train station and from the hotels and B&B where the participants are staying. See the map below, where the location of the Società Nazionale di Scienze, Lettere e Arti is denoted with the letter A.

It can be easily reached from the main train station with a bus (for example bus R2). You have to cross all the large Piazza Garibaldi in front of the station to reach the bus stop.

From the airport you can take a bus (it is called Alibus, starts every 20 minuts in front of arrivals and costs 3 euro) that takes you to Piazza Municipio (approximately 30 minutes), on the spot that you can see the map below.

You can also take a taxi. There is a fixed fare ("tariffa predeterminata") of 16 euro (includes everything) that you have to ask for before you take the taxi. Here can find all the taxi fares. It might be worth to have it printed.

The workshop will be held in the Hotel Panorama in Maiori.

Maiori is located on the Costiera Amalfitana.

We have organized few buses that will take the participants from Napoli to Maiori and vice-versa:

• on Saturday, May 30, leaving at 4pm from Hotel Oriente
• on Sunday, May 31, leaving from the Central Station at 5pm and from the Airport at 5:30pm
• on Saturday, June 6, leaving at 8:30am Maiori for Napoli Airport and Central Station

Alternatively, you can reach Maiori from Napoli with a bus from Napoli to Maiori and another one from Salerno to Maiori. Buses runs every 30 minutes from Napoli to Salerno and every hour from Salerno to Maiori. You will need to buy your ticket before you get into the bus.

There is also, three times a day, a direct connection from Napoli to Maiori.

The bus company is SITA, see the web site for more details (unfortunately the web site is in italian only). Here you can see the Napoli-Salerno timetable, the Salerno-Maiori timetable and the the Napoli-Maiori timetable.

The SITA bus stop in Napoli at the Porto Immacolatella, close to the Molo Beverello, which can be reached from the train station with Bus number 1.

From the airport you can take the airbus and take off in Piazza Municipio (the last stop). Molo Immacolatella is then within walking distance (about 15 minutes). If you take a taxi, don't forget to ask for the fixed fare "tariffa predeterminata" before the taxi starts. The price is 9.50 euros from the train station, 16 from the airport (quite a deal) and includes everything. Here can find all the taxi fares. It might be worth to have it printed.

The SITA bus stop in Salerno is at the train station.

One can also take a train from Napoli to Salerno (you can find the timetable on the web site of trenitalia) and then the bus from Salerno to Maiori. There are direct connections (which stops in Napoli) to Salerno also from Rome.

A third possibility (a rather pleasant one) to reach Salerno or Amalfi is to take a boat in Napoli. (see the web site ot the metro del mare)

To reach the Dipartimento:

• From the main train station (Stazione Centrale)
  • you should take the metro which leaves from the undergraund station (direction Pozzuoli) and take off at the station Campi Flegrei. From there you can take bus R6 or 180 and take off at the main entrance of the Campus in Monte S. Angelo (see the photo on the right). The ticket, which you should buy in advance in a newspaper stand, costs 1.10 euro and you need only one for the whole trip. Time: about 45 minutes.
  • you can take a taxi. In this case the fare should be 15 to 20 euros. Time: about 20 minutes.
• From the airport:
  • you can take a bus (it is called Alibus, starts every 20 minuts in front of arrivals and costs 3 euro) that takes you to Piazza Garibaldi (approximately 20 minutes), where it is located the main train station. From there you can follow the instructions above.
  • you can take a taxi. The fare should be around 20 euros. Time: about 25 minutes.
