The Department building in Monte S. Angelo.
The Mathematics Department of the University of Napoli was established in 1984, by merging the former Mathematics Insitutes of the Faculties of Science and Engineering. The Department is subdivided into two sections: the Science and the Engineering Sections. With few exceptions, all the (academic and support) staff whose main duties are in the Science Faculty belong to the former, those with duties at the Engineering school to the latter. The Department is part of the Polo delle Scienze e delle Tecnologie.
The Department is named after Renato Caccioppoli, and its library after Carlo Miranda, two prominent neapolitan mathematicians of XX century.
Current Head of Department is Prof. Gioconda Moscariello.
The main location of the Department is in the campus of Monte Sant' Angelo. Some directions on how to get there are available.
Some other Department rooms are located at the Engineering school and in the building of the former Mathematics Institute in the old part of Napoli.
