In Italy, teaching activities are organised by Faculties through lower-level institutions named "Consigli di Corso di Laurea" (CCL). Every CCL has in charge the organisation of courses for a specific degree. Most of professors and researchers of the Department belongs to the CCL of Mathematics. The others belong to CCL's of the other faculties of the same athenaeum, see in particular the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Engineering.
The Department offers two different PhD courses for postgraduate students. Professor S. Rionero is the chairman for a PhD course in Mathematics. Professor L. M. Ricciardi is the chairman for a PhD in Applied Mathematics and Informatics. Starting from courses beginning in 2002 the latter will be renamed PhD in Computation and Information Sciences.
