The distributed nature of the Grid, the heterogeneity of involved resources, their dynamic behavior, and their decentralized control and ownership are relevant challenges for a Grid Information Service.
With this lecture, the problem of defining a common information model is addressed and results of the Grid Laboratory
Uniform Environment (GLUE) collaboration is presented. Current activity within the Global Grid Forum is also recalled.
